01-Feb-2024
Good afternoon everyone,
We have had a great start to the year here at EPS and I look forward to informing you more about our first week in tomorrow’s Principal update. I did just want to touch base with you about our new assembly structure for 2024.
This year we are excited to have the most students attending our school in EPS history! With our move to over 500 students, we will need to make some necessary changes across the school to support safety and logistics.
To keep our students and community safe it is no longer viable to have us all in the Learning Centre at the one time for assemblies. To support safety, we will be moving to a rotational structure of Whole School, Junior and Senior assemblies. If we have unsuitable weather conditions, we will move Junior and Senior assemblies into the LC and Whole School assemblies will take place using the online platform Webex.
Another benefit of the restructure is that parents and family members will have improved viewing access when we do move into the LC.
Our Whole School assemblies will have a whole school focus including aspects of School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS) and Values programs. Junior and Senior assemblies will allow time for our class items, Student of the Week awards and more specific Junior and Senior related topics.
Assembly time is from 2.50 – 3.20 pm. With grades returning to class for the last 10 minutes for a final SWPBS routine for the week.
Please note that we will begin and end each term with a Whole School assembly. You can find the rotation of assemblies on the EPS calendar below.
Term 1 Calendar 2024 (as of 09/02/2024)
Our EPS families are welcome to all assemblies, and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow afternoon (enter via the gates on French Avenue).
Kind regards,
Acting Principal
I wish to acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands on which this is being read – for most of us – the
Bunurong- members of the eastern Kulin Nations – and pay my respects to elders past present and emerging. I
wish to acknowledge our First Nations people and pay respects to them. I note further that these lands were
never ceded and are, and always will be, Aboriginal Lands.
