EPS MND Big Freeze

Tuesday’s fundraising day for FightMND was a wonderful success. It was great to see our whole school get involved to support an important cause. Our students raised funds by wearing free dress, making monetary donations, partaking in a coin toss competition and bidding for the highlight of the day, to dunk our brave participants in the Big Freeze Dunk!

A massive thank you to the following people:

  • Our Student Leadership Team, guided by Mr Pearson, for their passion and dedication to plan and organise the event
  • Our EPS Community subcommitte for the behind the scenes organisation, event promotion and organising the BBQ
  • Our EPS Families sub committe for assistance on the day with the BBQ and Coin Toss competition
  • The CFA for assistance with the set up and filling the tank with icy cold water
  • Our teachers and community members who braved the cold and committed to taking the plunge
  • All of our families who donated and took the time to come out and support the event

Figures are still coming through but we have raised over $1500 to be donated to FightMND.

Term 3 – staffing updates

Heading into next term we have a few staffing updates for you:

1D – Bec Holland is taking some Long Service Leave for all of Term 3. We wish her a wonderful time away travelling with her family. In her absence, 1D will be taught by Laura Burgoine. Laura is a familiar face to our school having taught here on a casual basis throughout the year.

4A – In August, Laura Cecil will begin her Family Leave. We have loved having her as part of the EPS team since last year and we wish her all the best for the birth of her first child. Bec Laver will be rejoining us and she is very excited to be teaching 4A for the remainder of the year.

4B – At the end of this term, Jess Iancones (4B on Fridays & READ program) will also be heading off for Family Leave with the impending arrival of her second child. We wish Jess all of our best wishes. Jaimie Rohan will be returning to EPS from Week 3 of next term to continue our READ program and teach 4B on Fridays.

Physical Education – Our amazing PE teacher Sarah Love will be taking long-term leave beginning Week 2 of next term. Sarah and her family are moving to live and work in the United States. This is an amazing opportunity and we wish them every success.
They will all be very much missed here at EPS! We will be welcoming Lauren McGloin to teach PE for the remainder of the year. Lauren is a new face to EPS but a member of our surrounding community, involved in local team sports.
