The wait is almost over and there is a sense of excitement in the air!
On Tuesday we welcome back our Foundation to Year 2 students and our staff are eager to help our students and families settle back into the rhythm of ‘normal’ school life as quickly as possible. For our students returning to face to face teaching this week, there will be a focus on wellbeing, supporting them to cope with the changes we have implemented to keep our community safe and re-establishing routines and expectations.
For our Year 3-6 students and families, a return to face to face teaching will have to wait another fortnight. We have been very proud of the efforts of our students and families over the last 9 weeks and we have complete confidence that the last 2 weeks of remote learning will run smoothly- Weekly overviews are attached
The next few weeks will look and feel very different for our community. Together we can help reduce the risk of transmission by practising social distancing and following the entry and exit times and locations. We understand that these will not always work perfectly (wet weather for example) and that they may cause inconvenience BUT if we get this right, we will be one step closer to school as we know it, resuming in Term 3.
We will continue to be agile and responsive to our students’ needs and, if needed, we will modify our plans as we go.
Tomorrow, Monday May 25 is a student free day and we will be using this to consolidate our school operating plans, how we will continue to monitor and evaluate student health and wellbeing and establishing the best ways to measure students’ learning progress throughout the remote learning period.
Thank you again for your immense efforts over the past two months. It has been a herculean team effort- students, families and staff- and proven again that we are indeed stronger together.
Stay safe and take care
