Music & Performing Arts

At Edithvale Primary School, Performing Arts is a vibrant and valued part of our curriculum, where every student has the opportunity to create, perform and shine.

Our program spans Drama, Dance and Music, giving students from Foundation to Year 6 rich opportunities to explore the elements of the arts through practical, hands-on learning. Students sing, move, act, play instruments and collaborate in a supportive environment that builds confidence, creativity and teamwork.

In Music, students develop skills in rhythm, pitch, dynamics and tempo through singing, movement and instrumental learning. As they progress through the school, students learn classroom percussion, ukulele and guitar, developing correct technique, ensemble skills and performance confidence.

In Dance, students explore movement, rhythm and expression while learning how to communicate ideas and emotions through the body. They develop coordination, spatial awareness and the ability to perform with focus and control.

In Drama, students build skills in character development, storytelling and performance techniques. Through role-play, improvisation and scripted work, they learn to use voice, movement and expression to engage an audience.

A highlight of our program is our whole-school production, held every two years, where students collaborate across year levels to present a stage show for our community. Events such as our Christmas Concert and assemblies also provide meaningful opportunities for students to perform and celebrate their learning.

Our Performing Arts program supports student wellbeing by fostering belonging, courage and self-expression. We are proud to provide a creative space where every child is encouraged to take risks, support one another and discover their unique voice.
